Monumental Botanics - Solo Exhibition of Yang Xinguan
“生长力——上海浦江华侨城十年公共艺术计划”已经进入第五年。在这四年当中,我们持续关注着公共艺术的在地性与生长性,琴嘎、谭勋、焦兴涛个展从艺术家主体出发以不同的角度切入至社会境遇与生存向度、公共空间与时间等问题。第三年的“艺术植根”聚焦乡村,以四组艺术实践项目考察艺术与乡土的关系,以及中国当代艺术中艺术进入乡村、反哺乡村现象背后的内在逻辑。隋建国的《偏离17.5度》始终随着时间扩散,生长力计划也在不断树立新的坐标点。
现代城市的扩张将植物从野生的自然物变为一种人造的风景,此次展览艺术家杨心广以植物和人工制品作为材料,并进行有意味的杂糅嫁接,延续着近年来所关注的,在自然与城市景观的对抗与挤压下个体的生存体验,将个人微妙的身体感受投射至“拾来物”之中,回应着能量如何产生,万物如何生长。
The "Growth Power - Shanghai Pujiang Overseas Chinese Town Ten Year Public Art Plan" has entered its fifth year. During these four years, we have continued to pay attention to the locality and growth of public art. The solo exhibitions of Qin Ga, Tan Xun, and Jiao Xingtao have approached issues such as social conditions and survival dimensions, public space and time from different perspectives, starting from the artist subject. The third year's "Art Rooting" focuses on rural areas, examining the relationship between art and rural areas through four sets of art practice projects, as well as the underlying logic behind the phenomenon of art entering rural areas and giving back to rural areas in contemporary Chinese art. Sui Jianguo's "Deviation from 17.5 Degrees" has been spreading over time, and the growth plan is constantly establishing new coordinate points.
The expansion of modern cities has transformed plants from wild natural objects into artificial landscapes. In this exhibition, artist Yang Xinguang uses plants and artificial products as materials and carries out meaningful blending and grafting, continuing his recent focus on the individual's survival experience under the confrontation and compression of nature and urban landscapes. He projects his subtle bodily feelings into "picked up objects", responding to how energy is generated and how all things grow.
